Our positive thoughts are with all of those affected by the fires, heat and unhealthy air. Please be safe, healthy & drink lots of water. Be prepared and stay informed. Share your gratitude with our fire fighters and responders who are keeping us safe.

Together, we can move forward and become stronger socially, emotionally and physically. We are offering choice for our families this fall, especially with most school districts starting with distance learning. We are excited to share we have 38 groups for you to choose. Girls are welcome to join any group/school site.

We are grateful that Girls on the Run International has been creating new COVID-19 physical distancing and healthy preventative strategies for in-person learning and a virtual curriculum to foster a healthy, safe & positive GOTR experience.

We want Girls on the Run to be available for each and every girl, regardless of her family’s financial situation.  For this fall, the full program registration fee is $150 (in person/fluid) or $125 (virtual). However, financial assistance is available with discounted registration amounts based on Income/Household Guidelines. If the discounted amounts below are a barrier for your girl and family, please call us.

We miss your children

We miss your children!  We are anxious to get back to see their faces.

Until we get to see them in our rooms, we get to see them on our computers!  While school has been happening and teachers have been giving fun and meaningful ideas and projects and work to our kids, on Monday school starts "for real"   Work will now be assigned, graded and discussed and attendance counted. A schedule will be created and real time conversations will be happening on Google Meet.  We also know how hard it is to balance work, kids, limited devices and everyone being home so if your student requires some flexibility on assignment due dates please reach out to their teacher and explain the situation. Teachers will record Google Meet conversations when appropriate so kids can go back to them at any time.  All extra supports will also be starting in small group work. Please make sure to check your child's Google Classroom and your email for regular updates. We are also reaching out to kids to see how they are doing both individually and in small groups--we are even trying to figure out how to do lunch bunches! We will also have Spirit Days on Tuesdays-- our first one is Tell a Joke Day--have your student be ready to tell their class a joke on Tuesday!

Thank you for your patience as we are all trying to figure this out!  Your teachers have been stellar and creative already and it will get better.  We can’t wait to have our hallways filled again with noise, laughter and enthusiasm.

Right now, as you know, we are learning remotely until May 1.  Spring Break will be a work break for all as normal.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need something-- please email  JustineT@fsusd.org.  You can connect any number of ways with your teacher, and that is information should already have.

Friday Happenings 3/20

Happy Friday everyone!

As you know, your amazing teachers have been sending out lots of  creative ways and ideas for your students to still access and work with their curriculum.  We are experimenting right now with all kinds of ways to communicate: Zoom, Padlet, Google Meet, Blackboard, Flipgrid.  Check it out on your students Google Classroom!!!  On Google Classroom you will also see support from Ms. M the PE teacher and Mrs. Ellis our art teacher.  Google will be the vehicle we will be using once school "starts" again but until then, we are trying it all!

We are in the process of gathering info from teachers about what further supplies we want to send home of the artistic kind.  A few of you were not able to pick up Chromebooks and teachers have new math texts that students will be needing so we will have another staggered pick-up day coming up late next week after supplies come.  If it looks like they won't come in a timely fashion, we will do just new textbooks as necessary.

School "resumes" in this new "abnormal" March 30.  On that Monday teachers will be assigning work for real and grading it.  Until then, this is a grace period to understand how life has changed, try new vehicles, find ways that work for us to communicate with kids and keep it all going as best we can. No assignment is required from teachers or students or will be graded until then.  So beyond that expectation that teachers were given, your teachers have been magnificent getting things out to kids and teaching kids virtually and having group conversations with them and going above and beyond to connect with their kids and to have kids connect with each other.  It is to be enjoyed and celebrated, check it out!  Your Pod rocks!!

In terms of district news, folks have been volunteering to powerdown and trash out schools, and feeding students.  Next week volunteering and  feeding students will be continuing, yours truly will be driving pizza!  We are hopeful that this all will end sooner rather than later for everyone.  It may not, but we will cross that bridge later.

Lets just breathe and get used to our new norms and ways to communicate and appreciate what we do have and each other.  We will get through it all together, and only together.  In Italy where they are truly locked down for right now, they go out on their balconies in places where the balconies face each other and all sing the same song together at a certain time.  Tutti:  a musical term for the orchestra playing all together.  Lets play on.

If you have any questions, thoughts etc, please do not hesitate to ask me.  Justinet@fsusd.org.   I will take answers to questions that you might all want and re-blog.

All Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Families,

All schools in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District will be closed to students through Friday, April 17th, 2020, which was the previously scheduled final day of Spring Break. The first day back to school for students will be Monday, April 20th, 2020.

At this time, we will still be feeding ALL CHILDREN ages 18 and under starting tomorrow, March 17th, 2020. However, because of the Governor’s recommendation that people who are more vulnerable to COVID-19 should isolate themselves at home, we are reducing the hours and locations of feeding to keep our staff safe. Children will be able to receive food from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM each weekday during closures from only the following schools:
Cleo Gordon Elementary - 1950 Dover Avenue, Fairfield
Fairfield High - 205 E. Atlantic Ave, Fairfield
Fairview Elementary - 830 First Street, Fairfield
Grange Middle - 1975 Blossom Ave, Fairfield
Suisun Elementary - 725 Golden Eye Way, Suisun City
Students - be sure to check your email and Google Classroom for any communications from your teachers.
If you have not heard directly from your teachers, below are assignments and resources you may choose to complete as a way to continue and extend your academics while school is not in session.

This is a continuously changing situation. If you haven’t already, please follow us through these online channels for the most up-to-date information:
